Re: Fear of the Dark L.28 Gaea's Dawn
wow, i finally managed to clear that damn dungeon...Fight 3 took me forever (and about 400 AP) to clear.
The 4th fight isn't bad if you're a summoner (and high level). Just extend the succubus' summons on you and whack away at it with CPB.

Re: Fear of the Dark L.28 Gaea's Dawn
OK, rundown on this dungeon for level 48+
Fight 1: You just want to debuff yourself as much as possible and then wait out the hulking shadow. Blighted woodling, drug inhibitor, mana poisoning and shield of the whale are your staples here. Don't stun yourself or else the shadow gets normalized. Gloom Knell and song of chaos are really handy to keep yourself alive.
Fight 2: This one's kind of a pain in the ass. The lephrechaun kills itself right away, so don't worry about him. The goal is to kill the ooze as fast as possible. I do melee CPB. Some things to keep in mind are that if your willpower is ever zero, there's a chance that you'll get normalized and cleansed (good bye bloodpacts), so make sure you include enough WP charms. Next, the wyrm will do 60 ward projection every round. It hurts but there's not much you can do about it. Add some charms that give you ward like fury of the elements and battle molded axe to keep that at bay. If you have the int for it, theif's serum is a great charm for this fight since you'll wrack up a ton of banes. The more banes you have on you the better since there is a charm that gives you big boosts based on how many banes you have on you. Mix in some dual damage charms as well (barala's legacy and FotE are good choices). This is the one that burns the most AP for me currently. I haven't found a deck that's 100% yet.
Fight 3: This one took a long time to figure out. The key here is a mix of armor and spirit runes. The armor keeps you from collecting banes and getting eaten by the abominations and the spirit runes cause the cocoon to hatch and then kill all its allies. Cumulative armor is a must here (duty, nerman's, grand hopion), don't use auras or summons since the larva kill those off. Gloom knell, soul harvest, seduction, skull shield, jade skull and terrible idea are your best bets for spirit charms. Add some non-aura healing and you should be good to go.
Fight 4: Only the succubus sticks around, but it has 10K life and throws some pretty massive debuffs on you. This is actually pretty easy for a summoner, since extending the summons it puts on you helps a lot. Mostly though, you just want to CPB the heck out of the thing. Empathy is a must for this fight, but other than that, stick to your best CPB (drain helps a ton since the thing does some pretty heavy life loss).

To clear fight 4, the key is ghost drakeling (you need to destroy the ward on the other guy). Also, some of the weird, destroy ward on melee weapons charms work well too. I'm running a gear with lots of shankine weapons, weaver's gloves, ephemeral shade, icebreaker, ghost drakelings and some standard melee stuff (mach fist, a few hyphused charms etc)

One last thing - play purifying larva and ardent abominations in the last fight for a special drop (Vital force - needed for some crafts, plus it opens a special shop where you can switch fruity pebbles)

Re: Fear of the Dark L.28 Gaea's Dawn
I'm having trouble with fight 3 here. I've followed Tab's write up as much as possible (missing a few of the "key" charms) and at first I went in with a full 60 spirit deck, then realized I'm only getting through maybe half my charms so I decided to short deck it. I've gotten really close (Cocoon under 300 hp) but never was able to stay alive long enough. Any help would be greatly appreciated, since I've blown over 500 AP on this fight alone.

Fight 2 typically takes a good 50-100 ap to clear for me. Guess I'll just plug along and once I find a strategy and gear set, I'll post it to help others. Howie, I think it becomes more difficult at 48, so hold off if you can and try and get through Fear first.
Lessig, here's the gear set I use for F2:

Question, with F3 you gain a ton of banes, for those that have cleared it or are working on it, would cleansing them with Helm of Repentance be better than using them to heal yourself with Thief's Serum? I'm struggling trying to find a way to keep alive long enough for the cocoon to kill itself.

On my way, this was just in time for me. I'm 3 points away from level 48 so literally another day and it would have been too late. At least I have all my battle skill so I don't have to worry about accidentally leveling while i'm clearing it!

Re: Fear of the Dark L.28 Gaea's Dawn
Howie, you'll definitely want to play this some time after hitting 48, since at that point you'll get a different drop (lust insignia) that you'll need to craft some of the newest t2 and t3 class charms. If there is some treasure charm or some of the earlier crafts from this dungeon that you are interested in particular, then do play it now, otherwise don't worry too much holding it up until later.
F2 i pass easily playing my pvp gear, but since i'm a summoner it can take a lot to craft for a single fight, especially since berserker pixie and avatar of dabih are the main reason this fight is done so easily. If you are interested, i'll post a fight, but i'm definitely doing this in a weird way.
Obadiah: for F3 i don't know if thief's serum is the best way to go, i definitely cleanse.
A charm that is great in this fight if you can use it is duty. I find song of chaos is worth it's use for the damage it prevents. One last thing to consider is that you don't need to play spirit for it's effect, the important thing in this fight is playing spirit runes, so i would take out psychic cry as the 1 spi vs everyone is meaningless, and replace it with a different spirit-runed charm that at least gets you some positive effect.

Ogo, you rock! Thank you, just adding Song of Chaos and switching out Psychic Cry for some of the spirit runes that also -next magic allowed me to win on the first try...here's hoping I can constantly win on the first go. Looking at the battle, the -magic debuff didn't help any...guess I still need to tweak it a little.

Re: Fear of the Dark L.28 Gaea's Dawn
Ok, this dungeon sucks monkey balls. I'm fairly consistent with clearing F2, F3 still is a bit shaky but I get through it with some AP left a few times. F4 can just go suck a horse's dick. It might have be fairly feasible back before they nerfed blood pact, but jeez. I'm currently trying to tweak this deck for F4, any help would be greatly appreciated:
By the way, I'm running the straight CPB because with Empathy I wasn't getting anywhere under 8K on the succy. With this set up I'm at least getting under 7K...sometimes.

You need to drop the blightwood blades and add summon extenders. You can probably drop some of the RKs too. I'd drop BB, 2 of the RKs and the non doublehits like glorious slayer and the francisca and add 5 star gauntlets and 5 trailblazers.

Has anyone tried this dungeon at lvl 28? I'm curious as to how hard it really is at that level. I'm moving my lvl 28 over to that side of the board since I'm finished farming Fireflies Swamp and Tomb of Sheypar. This would give me another dungeon to finish while I farm Escort.

Clear it in 60AP with most alts at level 27, Luminous Idea and the Horned Scepter from Hexagon Mine make it a doddle

For the last fight they are pretty essential, you need to trigger the mob charm Battle of Will to beat it and the cumulative Willpower on the luminous and sceptor is the only way of keeping willpower as the other charms hit you for 3 spirit each. Honour Seal is also handy.
My alt ( TeJackal ) level 27 deck for the last fight
Might be able to do it with a shorter deck but thats what I've always used.

It kind of sucks, but you have to farm some "Wriggling Larva" and craft Purifying Larva and Ardent Abominations. Use them both in the last fight and you'll trigger the combo "Tainted Siphon," get Vital Force drop, the top level achievement, and unlock a store.

I can't remember what changes for the upper level version. Post a fight replay or 2 and i'll take a look at it.
I was having a horrible time with F3, until I realized I need to stack more armor and worry less about spirit/cleanse.

My first thought is to use more willpower/ward/armor...maybe use a combination of holy and spear. With the + next boosts, you don't necessarily need dual damage charms since it will be there until you next attack. Just focus on the Acidic Ooze and forget about the Terrified Leprechaun since he will collapse of exhaustion. Dropping the EAs might help keep the focus on the Acidic Ooze.
