New Contest. #25

This contest will take the form of what trading card game players know as a sealed box tournament. It will work like this:
- A copy of all active character will be moved to the contest server
- All the charms will be removed, and the level / HP / Spirit will be fixed for everyone
- Everyone will be given 160 charms randomly selected from a pool of high-level charms.
- You will have to make a deck out of these cards, and then fight in the coliseum to earn prizes!

The contest will have three phases of 7 days each.
During the first phase only the 1v1 coliseum will run, and it will be performed once a day. Characters will have the resources to enter up to 5 times.
After one week, all the cards will be wiped. You will be given new cards and then only the 2v2 coliseum will run for a week. There again you can only enter 5 times.
Past that time, the cards will be wiped one more and we will run the 3v3 coliseum for the last week.


At the end of the contest, we will give rewards to the ones that performed the best in 1v1, in 2v2, in 3v3, and also to those that had the highest amount of victories overall.

If you have multiple active alts, you are allowed to play with all of them. However, you will be able to earn a prize with only one character.


The contest server is now open, so you can already start to open your first card packs!
The first coliseum session is scheduled for Saturday around the daily reset time.

Contest Hints:
- Putting only the best cards together may not result in the best deck. Think carefully of all the path that are available to you.
- You will not have the AP to perform regular PvP against other players. However, you can skirmish your friends if they accept to put a good deck as their defense gear.
- Do not wait for the last moment to perform your 5 coliseums sessions. Each time, some people will not be able to participate since the amount of registered characters will never be a multiple of 8. This will be even more true for the 3v3 session.
- If you win or finish second at a coliseum session, you need to use the item you are awarded to register your victory.

it sucked that only 1 coli was run per day. I don't think I got all 5 in on any of my toons.

I missed the first one as well. Anyways, I will make parties, Xyel Party and Metsu party. Xyel is magic shortdeck with 5x manastorm, so dont play too many charms that dont do magic damage and Metsu is a melee shortdeck... hope I draw blood pact fast enough.

On the 4 characters I've checked, I haven't gotten enough charms of one type - melee, magic, spirit - to amount to a decent deck of any kind. But it is neat to see tons of high level charms that I haven't even heard of.

EDIT: Nevermind, barbich got a nice magic shortdeck and zuran got a nice melee shortdeck. Lessigfan, jambarama, whanana, and gramaltia pulled crud.

Turns out I can make solid magic with both chars (its cool I got 4x blood frenzy and 1x SnT, but just bloodpact isnt enough to make that useful I guess), so I guess I will try to do this myself.

Ah not so:

The rewards you get are linked to the amount of points you have in the category where you did the highest score (1v1, 2v2 or 3v3):
10 points: 25 Phoenix Feathers
9 points: 15 Phoenix Feathers
8 points: 10 Phoenix Feathers
7 points: 10 Sweet Brownies
6 points: 5 Sweet Brownies

Source. You get points for using items that drop from 1st/2nd place finishes in the coli. Win enough items (and use them) and you get a prize.

Of course metsu and all my characters are probably out for the global prize - a custom charm - but enough 1st/2nd place finishes will still get you Phoenix Feathers and/or Brownies. And lets be honest, maybe this isn't true for you, but I wasn't in the running for the global prize anyway.

That looks interesting, since we will have 8 manastorms, frozen heart and incandescence are rather an overkill - remove it imo. Wrath of the fallen is a really bad idea since the magic part will be the strong one. Otherwise its great, if you have something that deals direct magic damage, it would be worthy of adding it I guess (almost anything).

Unless you're going for an overall win, I think the points have to be earned within the same period - e.g. 1v1, 2v2, or 3v3. Each win is 2 points, 2nd place is 1 point, so in 5 coli matches you'd have to do pretty well to get 6 points.
