Need Help: CKM fight 1

I'm tired of blowing hundreds of AP on this fight. I have been able to get past it only twice, this is all about the RNG? or is there a strategy that I am missing. I've tried the all armor and I've tried all spirit. Neither gave me 50% chance of wins.

First of all, if you don't have 63+ spirit you'll need an amazing draw to win.

The basic concept here is that you want to debuff the thief's melee and put on a bunch of armor. As long as you have armor, the thief will just keep whacking away at you with EAs that do self spirit. I've had him go for 10+ EAs in a row. Killing his willpower is nice, but not really necessary since he'll do that himself.

Melee debuff and cumulative armor are pretty much all you need to clear this fight. A few self stuns with armor like yoga training are nice to give you a few extra turns.
The best debuffs for this fight are feetbinds (of course), blighted woodling, forcefield (combine with pryic charge and yoga training), despair if you're a DK, blightwood blade's not a bad add either if you can run it.
