A Cry of the Earth Empty A Cry of the Earth

Post by Howie Feltersnatch March 2nd 2010, 2:29 pm

It's a 4 person dungeon, and I'm not particularly sure as to the best strategy for this. It seems, from reading some forum threads, that the best method is having a tank to take the purges that target highest hp,.
The tank would also have cleanses that can take off the high damage poisons that Yaxion deals. The rest of the party would be high DPS classes like myself (berserker), and preferably be all one damage type (aka melee) because Yaxion has high armor+ward charms, so it would be best to only have to attack one of those defenses. The group would proceed to either kill Yaxion straight up, or kill all the Decaying Elementals in one turn. I'm not sure how this dungeon works completely, or how powerful the decaying elementals are, but I'll do it once in a public group to give it a shot.

If anyone has experience with this dungeon, or is in gaea's dawn to help me out, that would be great. It would also help if someone knew a good strategy and a good group of people to do it with. The dungeon has some
really good drops, so it would be beneficial for everyone. I'm personally looking for a couple (or 5) Nature's Claws.

Here's the wiki: http://estiah.aswt.net/index.php?title=A_Cry_of_the_Earth

Fight: party of 4 players against

* Yaxion
o Level 43
o 4000 HP
o Infinite Spirit
o Charms: Aura of Putrefaction, Dragon Rage, Moss Scales, Putrid Infection

* Decaying Elemental (x3)
o Level 42
o 50 HP
o Infinite Spirit
o Charms: Cycle of Life
* Drops:
o Charms: Earth Dragon Crown, Nature's Claw, Power Leak
o Items: Dragon Bone, Earthen Crown, Putrid Dragon Scale
* Note: Gives +8 to Earth Bloomer skill.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Main Strategies:

Focus on one damage type, so you dont need to break through armor and ward.
Group purges (or debuff shorteners) are clutch.
Use Armor repulsion and Will attraction focus charms with everybody.
Limit EA charms because they use up focus turns.
Use alot of melee debuffs (feetbind), because thats his main straight damage type.
Group heals and buffs definately helped.
Need at least guy who does a lot of damage output.

I hear that banes are the way to go with this guy. You need a melee tank, the right kind of focus and then lots and lots of banes (persistent diseases, death sentence, hateful flame, etc)

Armor/ward repulsion or life/level attraction are the focus types that work best here.

We've got an archery over at OOBM, so we could build these if people have enough use for them. I thought they'd be good to use in guild battles, but I ran some tests and without damage they're losers. But I've heard they're good for a few dungeons, and this is a good example.

I'm currently set up to tank against Yaxion if anyone wants to run this with me.

Suggested charm setup (non-tank):
30+ Banes: magic banes preferred, max damage possible
10 conditional focus: level/life/will attraction, armor/ward repulsion
5 cleanse
fill the rest with support charms, ward destruction, bane extenders

Faen is tanking this pretty constantly (still need at least 10 more runs to get all the jade gear i want), so if anyone wants to hit this up, let me know.

I've got jambarama over there to tank. Group: monks, PW: Burn. I've never done this one as a tank before, so feedback is welcome. He's got 15 cleanse charms, 10 magic banes, 5 level attractions, 5 drug inhibitors, 5x protect charms, and the rest is just armor & ward.

Owlet has a nice tank set up...i jumped in his group running melee if you want to switch to attack mode and join. I can't run banes with azazael so that was really my only way atm.
I'm also going to try/trying to recruit the guy, his guild looks like it could be him and his alts.

its "I tank u melee pw c"

after the reset i have 2 others (who already went today) there and i'll join up in your group.

more protect charms, more armor, fewer cleanse....i think you pretty much want to be almost all protect and armor with a few cleanse/level attraction/bane charms.

Anyone need to run this dungeon? The semi-publics I've been running get filled with nitwits running tons of different strategies. So far my tank has been the last man standing each time, and that's with tons of AoE armor/ward. I could use some decent partners - with either melee or magic damage, but not both.

I'll send Kaervaak your way tomorrow. He's farming charm alchemist with last echo of the thunder but he could certainly use some runs on COE. He can either do a pretty brutal CPB melee or a nice bane deck, I'll let you pick.

lessigfan - if you tank, then try to put up party like "I tank you bane pw 1" (or join such party if you bane). I dont remember ever failing with this type of party when I was farming it with Xyel.

No, Faen failed twice in one day doing that lately. There's some really terrible people running COE right now who are joining semi-pubs and crashing them.

I need to do this dungeon for Nature's Claw.

I'm not that good in tanking but i have a decent Melee CPB and my life isn't that high that i would be targeted by the purge (790 HP).

You need banes for that - you are not very likely to find a melee party. You can also tank, doesnt matter if its good tbh - just a ton of protect + some cleanse should do the trick (party name "I tank you bane pw 1" or something like that going semi-public.

If you can short deck some weak banes - hateful flames, venom darts, whatever you've got - I can setup some semi-publics with a good tank or join another semi-public with enough banes to take him down myself. Just PM me if that'd be helpful.

The best part about that dungeon is that you can buy great tank charms with the drops. Let me know what you need and i can move some guys there if the semi publics aren't working for you.

Yesterday there was a melee group and it was quite easy, so i don't see why melee shouldn't be good for this.

Right now, i am training sap in the arena, because i haven't even R1...

You can do it with melee, you just need a really good tank so the cpb guys don't get purged. Banes are just easier IMO, and work with even weak tanks. But if melee is working for you, stick with it.

I actually can use Burn, Hateful Flame and Venom Dart as Banes, alsong with Dynamite and Crystal Boomerang as delayed Banes.
Currently i am working on Sap 2 and 3, but 2 wouldn't give me anything useful if i see this right and i don't want to farm other charms at the moment.

And befor you ask...my Int is too low to use the Twin Blade and other Banes (about 100).

If you have a good tank you don't need great banes, ok ones work most of the time, unless you get a group of people all using those banes. The groups that i've seen fail either don't have enough focus or a poor tank.
