I had slowed down around 33-34ish, filled up on leadship/defender and outlaw, and then i got thinking about it...that in the long run it would be more beneficial for me to stop working and work on skills at level 40. At 40 i can more or less max out all my stats (not cap limited, wasting points anyway) and i can start using the special +1 stat foods (which seems to be the limit on growth at upper levels). Am i missing something here, or is this sound strategy?

The +1 and +2 attribute foods count against your growth limit. The +1 potions don't count against your growth limit, but they're level 40+.

Let me make sure I understand what you're saying. When you hit 40, you plan to stop working and instead work in skills and use the +1 potions. Is that right?

The reason I've started working again at level 40 is because I've needed evolution skills, like reflexes and remorseless. Sticking around 40 and maxing battle skills is probably a good idea but you'll level to 41 pretty quickly from skills.

You will actually level from 40 to 41 just from new +HP skills and you wont even get all of them.

yes, use the +1 potions that do not count against the cap.
